Civil Engineering

In addition to the property services, we have been developing and growing our civil engineering division across various estate management and civil engineering works. This was initially required to suit our client needs.

  • SER Contractor LTD it is a specialist in turf reface and complete gardening works, completed to high standard as per client specification.

New Homes

A small development consisting of semi-detached houses finalized in 2017, complimented by convenient off-road parking and each with its own garden area or balcony.

This development is finished to a high specification including integrated appliances to glossy designer kitchens boasting stone worktops, marble effect porcelain tiles to bathrooms and oak effect flooring to the living and dining areas.

The development is backed by a 10-year warranty.

Sheltered Accommodation Works – Sprinklers

Residential sprinkler equivalent

Automist Smartscan® can be used in the same residential applications as life safety sprinklers systems. It is described in an LABC Assured (EW534) and passed all the fire performance tests that are applied to both conventional sprinklers & water mist sprinklers.

In the event of a fire, the system is triggered automatically by a ceiling mounted detector. Where desired, manual activation can also be provided through a manual call point.

Automist® connects to the regular domestic water supply. Using much less water than a traditional sprinkler system, water damage in the event of activation is minimised. Unlike conventional sprinklers, Automist® can be stopped manually by pressing a button on its control panel.

Key features:

  • Connect 6 heads up to one pump for cost effective whole house coverage
  • Intelligently targeted watermist spray with 6m range for volume protection
  • Requires an independent circuit either via a dedicated RCD or no RCD, and water supply

Fire door programmes and FRA works

SER Contractor LTD is an approved contractor for BM Trada for the following categories:

We complete the replacement of approximately 7,000 doors per year, working in partnership with Gerda Doors.

SER Contractor Ltd have had a business partnership with our sister company SER Windows & Doors Ltd since 2017. The relationship has resulted in success on multiple large-scale projects throughout the UK. SER Windows & Doors Ltd is known for being one of the leading window and door manufacturers in the country.

With direct access to a locally based windows & doors manufacturer we are able to source and install high quality and industry recognised approved products without delay.

Electrical

SER Contractor Ltd have had a business partnership with our sister company SER Electrical Contractor Ltd since 2017. The relationship is built on strong work ethic with a common goal for quality workmanship and unrivalled customer satisfaction. All the SER Electrical Contractor’s electricians are qualified to NICEIC level.

Builders Merchant

SER Contractor Ltd have had a business partnership with our sister company and builder merchant, EBS.

EBS are specialists in supplying materials for the construction sector and they are SER Contractor Ltd’s No. 1 “Go To” supplier to source all the products and materials we require to get the job done. We have direct access to a substantial core range of products sourced from the UK’s leading brands and manufacturers.

IT Services

From the very beginning, SER Contractor has invested in the technological development of the company.
Since 2010, we have developed and continue to develop in-house our own ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. We have digitised the entire activity of the company in one secure system.

All of SER Contractor’s operations are managed through our in-house built system. From estimates, resource planning and CRM to invoicing, our software can manage all areas of our business.

As it is a very comprehensive informatic system, we are now modularising it, to be able to offer it to other companies, to optimize activity in their company.

We will launch the system during 2023.

We are working towards BS EN ISO 19650 accreditation and developing specification for information management for the delivery phases of construction projects using building information modelling (BIM). We do have the ability to work within a “common data environment” as described in PAS 1192:2:2013.

We are experienced in delivering projects via a managed 3D environment with individual discipline BIM tools, integration by proprietary interfaces and 4D programme data. We have a BIM Policy which forms part of our Integrated Management System which places responsibility for BIM strategy, implementation and development with our SHEQ Manager, Chris Breavington. We use REVIT software, and all information is held in the Cloud where it is easily accessible to designers, clients and our supply chain.

BIM Compliant Working

We have implemented processes to manage schemes within a BIM environment. These have been tried and tested over several projects that we provide a common data environment within. This provides a structure within which a collaborative BIM management plan can be developed where required. Various methods are provided to collect data in common formats through process management tools that are linked to our gateway processes. For instance, we detail the requirement for pre-construction and pre-handover documentation within the contract model and the process is controlled through the upload of specified documentation. Additionally, contract filing structures are automatically created in line with the BIM Execution Plan.

Construction Operation Building Information Exchange (COBie) Standard

When a client adopts COBie (which we advocate at feasibility stage), we jointly develop a suitable template to receive the pre-agreed data drops as the model develops. From experience, we find that our clients believe this approach is relevant and highly beneficial to ongoing facilities management, with operation and maintenance data linked to the BIM model. Securing early agreement of the client’s preferred approach ensures that information for the model is gathered consistently.

Project BIM examples

We are delivering our pilot BIM Level 2 project in Lambeth and other locations. We have also recently completed a Void Programme in Camden, both projects in London being delivered under the Void Refurbishments Framework.
